Dear Friends,
I have had the privilege of volunteering at the Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program (NVTRP) for the past 18 months. NVTRP is a non-profit organization that provides equine assisted activities for children and adults with disabilities, youth-at-risk, and recovering military personnel. This work has been incredibly rewarding for me personally as I have had the chance to see first hand what an impact horses make for people who struggle with adversity in their day to day lives.
Our Executive Director requests feedback from the military riders, and recently she shared a few quotes with the volunteers. When asked if the ride benefited their mental health and sense of well-being, one rider responded, "I was feeling sad and depressed before arriving, and now feel happy and hopeful." Another responded, "Most definitely, it made me feel like a new man full of joy." As she continued reading the quotes, I was so moved to hear how much the horses have helped to reduce anxiety and depression for our brave service men and women.
NVTRP raises funds to cover 100% of the cost for the military riders, and financial help is needed to keep the program running. I sincerely thank you for considering a donation to help support this wonderfuyl cause.
